Do you know the way to San Jose?
I’ve been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way.
Do you know the way to San Jose?
I’m going back to find some peace of mind in San Jose.
– Burt Bacharach / Dionne Warwick

E19 (richting San José) symbolizes the search for a destination in life in a world of excesses, where people hungrily indulge in all kinds of external stimuli. Everybody is looking for something, be it fame or fortune, a career, peace and happiness. San José (in reality and industrial city) is the symbol for silence, for peace. It is a safe haven, the ultimate purpose of the search, the final stretch of the E19. San José, however, is an illusion, the search is endless, the silence elusive. The final destination is realizing there is no end. It goes on and on. San José will always be a dream.
E19 (richting San José) was nominated for a Zwaan (Swan) by the VSCD (Dutch Association of Theatre and Concert Hall Directors) as one of the most impressive dance productions of the 2006/2007 season and was selected for the Nederlandse Dansdagen (Dutch Dance Festival) as one of the most important productions.
